Prague Day 3: Easy day in Prague

Norm:

Today's schedule for Prague was fairly easy-going and not as packed as usual. We originally planned to go catch breakfast at Havel's Market, but upon arriving at the market, we realized that it wasn't like the food market where we were at yesterday; there was no food stands to get breakfast! Mandy was considering buying some berries but they were ridiculously expensive. We ended up going back to the market south of Palladium Mall to get food there again. Mandy had some freshly made chips and I had a fish sandwich.

Havel's market with no food :(

Delicious-looking, yet super expensive berries

Breakfast (much better than Filet of Fish)

After a quick breakfast, the next thing on our agenda was... lunch! We had reservations at another Asian Fusion (seems popular in Prague) called Aureole, on the top floor of an office building. Lots of suits and extended business lunches. The lunch there was quite good, the view there was awesome, but what I will really remember is the super fancy urinals they had!

Salmon with pad thai noodles, flank stake with potatoes au gratin in background

Super fancy urinal with grapefruit, lemons and limes. Could not resist sneaking back in to take a photo

From then, we went to Vysehrad, which is a park area with an old, yet beautiful cemetery and church. It was situated atop a hill along the river so we had some really good shots of western side of Prague. From then, we walked along the river to check out the "Dancing House". It's a building that, from pictures, had a very cool and unique architecture, but it was kind of underwhelming when witnessed in person.

Dancing tower, though in this picture it looks kind of cool

From then on, we had no plans and it was only around 4:00 pm in the afternoon. So, we decided to go to the Strahov Monestary to check out the impressive library they had there. Though by the time we got there, it was 4:45 pm and the Monestary had just closed. :(  Slightly disappointed, we walked by the tram station and comforted ourselves by eating a typical Czech dessert pastry called Trednik, with nutella inside, which was quite all right.

Closed library. Super annoying

While in Prague we had to take the opportunity to go to one of the most popular absinthe bar in Prague called Hemingway's. Typically quite hard to get there if you don't have reservations so we tried to arrive early. It was a really impressive bar, with a huge variety of spirits, cocktails and most importantly absinthe. I started with a traditional Czech Absinthe (65%), while Mandy ordered an absinthe cocktail. Mandy didn't really like the absinthe cocktail, so I ended up finishing both of them, while Mandy switched to a drink that was more suitable for her palette (lychee cocktail). The cocktails were so good three, we had stayed for a few more drinks before heading out for a late dinner. Lacking any concrete plans for dinner, we returned to the Italian restaurant we went to the first night; I had the margarita pizza di buffalo while Mandy had a baked rigatoni.
