Nice Day 1

Norman:

Ahh, to finally leave the big city of Paris and see what the French Riveria has to offer. This day's weather began nicely - some overcast clouds to partially block off the overbearing sun. We walked towards the pier to take a gander at the coastline and see what kind of boats and yachts ballers in the French Riveria live on. First impression was that the coastline was absolutely breathtaking. Mandy and I could not stop saying "Oh my god, this is so nice!" We continued along the coastline and tried to take a lot of photos to capture the beauty of Nice.

Boats come in all colours of the rainbow

Need to come back here when I have a yacht of my own

This picture still doesn't capture the "Nice"-ness of the view ;)

From there, we climbed the stairs up a nearby cliff to see even better views of Nice's coastline and see some green-ery in the area. However, the day started becoming quite hot and stairs do not mesh well with hot weather. After checking out the area, we eventually headed back down to the cliff to find some shelter and check out the beach and the market area of Nice. We got some ice cream, Mandy bought some souvenirs and it was interesting to see France from a small city perspective. Though we were just wandering the market aimlessly, we inadvertently stumbled back to our hotel. Just goes to show how small the city of Nice really is.

Mmmmm... ice cream!
After we got home, it was still fairly early. We stopped by the supermarket, grabbed some smoked salmon, fruits, caprese salad and potato salad and decided to head to beach, lie in the sun and enjoy our snacks. Only bad part of the beach was that it was a pebble beach, similar to the beach in Brighton. With only a towel to sit on, it was actually very uncomfortable to lie on the beach for a long time. However, it was good to lie in the sun and try to even out my disgusting farmer's tan. Afterwards, we packed up, went back to the hotel, showered and went to a nearby restaurant in Garibaldi Square to grab dinner.

Ignore the disgusting whiteness on my body

Salmon for me, Ravioli with generous Parmesan cheese for Mandy (there can never be too much Parmesan cheese)
More to come soon!
